Futurebirds - (Set time: 11:00 PM)
The music is a patchwork amalgam of influences, including: twangy Southern rock (they've opened for the Drive-By Truckers), reverb-soaked psychedelia reminiscent of early My Morning Jacket or fellow Athens residents Phosphorescent, soaring guitar solos à la Neil Young and Crazy Horse, rhythmic jangle from that other Athens band, REM, multi-part vocal harmonies (which every band ought to have, dammit), and, weaving through it all, lyrical slide guitar. - Vox.com
Neighbor Lady - (Set time: 10:00 PM)
Neighbor Lady
Georgia based Neighbor Lady is comprised of singer songwriter Emily Braden, guitarist Jack Blauvelt (Cheif Scout/ Dana Swimmer), bassist Merideth Hanscom (Semicircle, Blanko), and drummer Andrew McFarland (Reptar, Semicircle, Co Co Ri Co, Givers). Known for Emily Braden's haunting vocal style paired with dreamy western psych rock, they attracted attention in the June 2016 with the release of the summer single "Consider Me Mean" which was recorded and engineered by Jesse Mangum of Moeke Records.(Track:https://moekerecords.bandcamp.com/track/consider-me-mean) At their well received performances with bands like Homeshake, The Districts, Reptar, Road Kill Ghost Choir, T. Hardy Morris, and Natural Child, the band has been noted to be "hauntingly beautiful" by Flagpole Magazine and was featured as one of the top 10 acts to see at Athfest Music Festival 2016. The band was also featured on a Backlight Productions music session, which travels to artists’ homes to catch a glimpse of their creative process. (Link:http://vinylmag.org/2016/03/31/backlight-productions-presents-neighbor-lady/) Lady’s momentum has much to do with the honest, confessional connection the band makes with their audiences by combining soft psychadellic indie-rock with soaring vocal melodies that is felt to be both comforting yet heartbreaking in the same moments. The band is set to record their first album in January 2017.
