Mister Tie Dye
Mister Tie Dye, based in Athens, GA, originated as a jazz sextet assembled to perform an original composition by José Moran. After José showed that tune to Chandler Greer, they had the idea to expand and form a larger and more experimental ensemble. The iteration of Mister Tie Dye that exists today is as a nine-piece ensemble including six horns (alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, two trumpets, tenor trombone, and bass trombone) and rhythm section (keyboard and synthesizer, electric bass, and drums). The group performs a repertoire of music that spans over several musical genres, influenced by artists and composers such as OutKast, Snarky Puppy, The Funky Knuckles, Erykah Badu, J.S. Bach, Claude Debussy, Robert Glasper, and more.
