Tech Specs

Thanks for stopping by to check out the technical specifications of the Georgia Theater. As many of you already know, we had a big fire and needless to say everything was a complete loss. The fire was so intense that not only did it melt the the aluminum trusses, the internal wiring of powered speaker cabinets like the Meyer M2Ds for instance, had the insulation completely burned off! In the wake of this disaster we've begun to plan our rebuild and re-outfitting of the production components of the building.

We started our list of equipment at FOH and thought long and hard about the equipment that will please the largest amount of engineers for roadshows. Some of you want analog consoles. Some of you want digital consoles. Why not just get both. In fact why not just get two or three consoles and let everyone pick and choose?

We'll have a Midas XL8, a Yamaha PM5D and a Mackie 8 Bus. Everybody knows how to operate a XL8 or a 5D, childs play really! But can you make the band sound good on the 8bus? This is where we separate the men from the boys.

We've decided to keep it real on the stage as well. We'll put a Peavey monitor console on the stage as a decoy, just to make people bitch, then we'll roll out a 5D and strut around like heroes! Can't wait.

So this is what it will look like at FOH. 120 channels of mostly good times! Unless of course you get stuck in the middle.

Hey you think that is cool? Wait till you see the lighting!

In an effort to get LEED certification and reduce power consumption, we're going to try few different things. First off, we are going to have 1,600 lights! Yup, sixteen hundred of those shiny aluminum PAR cans. Now of course, each one will only have a 15 watt Christmas light in it but think of how cool 1,600 par cans will look! Who cares how bright it is, those 1,600 PAR cans look damn sexy. It's gonna be expensive to gel up but heck, we'll never burn another gel out!

Our LD Josey Hunt gained a little weight but is already doing some design and practicing with his new "Space Hog" lighting controller.

Now the real genius is how we will power all these lights. Patrons to shows will have the option to buy a half price ticket to any concert, as long as they pedal a generator through the whole show! I figure we'll need 1,600 15watt pedal powered generators! So Wil is looking into buying a fleet of these things. Keep the band lit up, do something for the environment and atmosphere and stay in shape! All while rocking out to your favorite band. Too cool for words!

Hey it's my turn to save the atmosphere!

Another really amazing development is the recycling of the old beer lines. Since they were protected from the fire in the basement, well they got a little moldy when the fire department pumped enough water onto the fire to fill the basement; they survived and now can be reused. Although it has nothing to do with production I just thought everyone would enjoy the good news!
