Sunwatchers - (Set time: 11:00 PM)
Sunwatchers are a fierce New York-based ensemble that blur the lines between avant-jazz, punk, psychedelia, Ethio-jazz, and desert blues - creating joyous, chaotic, mystical elegies to modern sound. The group – comprised of Peter Kerlin (bass guitar), Jim McHugh (electric guitar/electric Thai phin), Jason Robira (drums), and Jeff Tobias (alto saxophone/keyboard) – features current & former members of NYMPH, Dark Meat, Chris Forsyth’s Solar Motel Band, and Arthur Doyle’s New Quiet Screamers. Their eponymous 2016 album was released on Castle Face Records in 2016, and the band released their sophomore LP entitled "II" on Trouble In Mind Records on February 2nd, 2018. Collaborative and inclusive as a matter of personal politics, Sunwatchers have worked with artists including Eugene Chadbourne, Brigid Dawson (The Oh Sees), David First (Notekillers), Heather McIntosh, Ryan Sawyer, Jonathan Kane, Jessica Pavone, David Harrington, and many others. Sunwatchers also function as the co-organizers of Music Against Mass Incarceration, a biannual music and performance festival aiming to help dismantle the vastly unjust American prison system.
