Muuy Biien (on the Rooftop) - (Set time: 11:00 PM)
Muuy Biien (on the Rooftop)
Muuy Biien is a band from Athens, Georgia. Early recordings juxtaposed dreary, lo-fi ambience with intense bits of minimalist post-punk and hardcore fury. In 5 years, the band has evolved to incorporate these two disparate elements into a sound that is both restrained in aesthetic and furious in delivery. On their newest album, Age of Uncertainty (Autumn Tone), goth, dub and film noir soundtrack have all crept their way into the group's sonic landscape. Experimentation with tempo and instrumentation have allowed Age of Uncertainty to serve as the band's much needed departure from their punk roots.
Muuy Biien pays homage to their influences but constantly change the focus of where this inspiration lies. They are creatively restless and already at work on a follow up album.
The band thrives on stage, where their range of styles all find cohesion in a chaotic and brooding performance.
Muuy Biien has been fortunate to share the stage with ICEAGE, Faust, Metz, Odonis Odonis, Girl Band, Magma, Cold Cave, The Spits, Black Lips, Lighting Bolt, The Coathangers, Weaves, The Soft Moon, Mothers and Chain and the Gang (Ian Svenonius).
Bambara - (Set time: 10:15 PM)
Bambara
"Seeing a Bambara set live is sorta like getting trapped in a long, dark corridor with the vague sensation that you are being followed by the thing that terrifies you most … so long as what you're scared of is experimental indie bands with a tendency to be mellow very loudly." - Weekly Dig Boston
Hello Ocho - (Set time: 9:30 PM)
Hello Ocho
HELLO, OCHO…

TOTALLY UNRESTRAINED CREATIVE EXPRESSION IS A STANDARD THAT ANY ARTIST WOULD STRIVE FOR. IT JUST SO HAPPENS THAT ATLANTA QUINTET HELLO OCHO HAS LONG SINCE LEFT THAT LANDMARK IN THE REAR VIEW, HURTLING THROUGH THE COSMOS LIKE A PSYCHEDELIC FREIGHTER WITH LITTLE REGARD FOR TRADITIONAL SONG AND GENRE FORMS.

THE LATEST PRODUCT OF THEIR EFFORTS, THE SELF-RELEASED SOPHOMORE ALBUM IN PORTUGUESE, IS A SPRAWLING, DRAMATIC GEM, A KALEIDOSCOPIC JUGGERNAUT OF STRANGE AND BRAVE PROPORTIONS. AMIDST THE ALBUM’S WARM, ENVELOPING DISSONANCE, SUBTLE NODS TO POP, JAZZ, TROPICALIA, KRAUTROCK, AND A PROFOUND CINEMATIC SCOPE® FIND THEIR WAY TO THE SURFACE. COMPARISONS TO CAN, DEERHOOF, STEREOLAB AND EVEN CONNAN MOCKASIN AREN’T UNWARRANTED, BUT HELLO OCHO PLEDGES ALLEGIANCE TO NO ONE SOUND OR STYLE – THEY’VE MADE IT THEIR MISSION TO ABSORB ALL THEY CAN FROM EVERY CORNER OF THE SONIC UNIVERSE, IF ONLY TO SEE WHAT COMES OUT THE OTHER END.
